Game:
Backslash is a 1v1 turn-based strategy game. Each player has an action phase followed by their opponents reaction phase. Players can must use their quick wits to best their opponent in a bout of reflexes and skill.

Controls:
Backslash can only be played with an XBox Controller. The buttons are explained in-game.

How to Play:
During the action phase, you have the following actions:
Move - Move 1 space in one of 4 directions.
Lunge - Step forward 1 space and stab the space ahead of you.
Wide Slash - Slash 3 spaces in front of you in a wide arc.
Strong Attack - Deal a lot of damage 1 space in front of you.
Use and item - Use whatever item you are holding.

After an opponent uses an action, you will have a limited time to react with one of the following actions:
Move - Same as the action
Dodge - Stand still, but avoid incoming attacks
Block - Stand still and block any attacks
Shield Bash - Knock both you and your opponent backwards
Use an item - Same as action

Each reaction has a different effect against an action. For instance:
If a lunge connects with a player, the hurt player will lose their next action.
If a lunge misses a play or the player dodges, the attacker will lose their reaction.
Wide slashes cannot be dodged, but they can be blocked.
Wide slashes can only be shield bashed if the players are adjcent and the defending player will still take damage.
Using an item will cost you your next reaction phase.
Strong attacks can be blocked and dodged with no penalty.
