You’ve traveled far. You’re exhausted. Your family isn’t in much better condition. You decide to sit down and rest for awhile.
It’s been quite some time, now. You know that it’s due time to keep searching, but you cannot find the resolve.
Wouldn’t it be easier to just settle here, where you are now? The land here isn’t good for planting, but you try to convince yourself that with time, you might grow enough to support your family. You could build a new house - with what resources? you wonder. Nevermind that the essence of the land feels hollow, which does nothing to lift your family’s already broken spirits.
But you’re too tired to continue.
And why bother? This is likely the best you’ll come across, anyway.
You’ll eventually learn to manage living here. Maybe one day, you’ll learn to like it. You’ll be happy, even. You can only hope.
