Even before you enter, you know this house is the one where you will settle. Good, empty land surrounds it, ample acreage to support your family of five and even more, if you one day choose.
The house is large and structurally sound from the outside. You step inside just to be sure.
The house is completely empty and had been abandoned a while ago but not for too long, evident by only a thin layer of dust covering the floors and the relatively recent repairs.
Even still, you notice that neglect has taken its toll on the doors and window frames, but nothing that can’t be easily remedied.
The entire house would be needing cleaning and furnishing as well - your family is excited by that prospect. Your children are already claiming their rooms and chatting amongst themselves about how they will decorate.
The challenge doesn’t daunt you, you think as you search the house up and down for anything more needing repair.
Despite all the work that this house will need hanging over your head, you find that you’re just as excited as your children.
You can finally stop searching.
You’ve found a place where you can settle with your family. With time and care, one day, maybe you can finally call it home.
You look out across your lands, at peace for the first time in a while.
The sun slowly rises on the horizon.
